My day was very uneventful. I tried to help out as much as possible but there wasnt a whole lot i could do. The school i was attending had a fun day so things where are mixed up. Overall however it was a good day. I found a lot helpful in my observations and i cant wait to start my placement.
I really enjoyed spending the day with the 7th graders and Mrs. Ingram. The entire middle school broke up into groups based on their summer reading books and had lots of fun activities they participated in. The class I was in read a book called Mamba Point. Mrs. Ingram started off by playing a Jeopardy review game to get the kids thinking about the book again and then Mr. Bolen came in and taught him more about snakes and brought his corn snake for all the kids to see and touch. The kids also decorated African tribal masks, ate a African stew and created thank-you cards for Mr. Bolen. After lunch the whole school watched the movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid and then had a Poison Pin benefit for Mrs. Caulder. I had a great time on Monday and I look forward to going back! :)
Monday I went to my placement with Mrs. Kahler at the middle school. The middle school was having a Summer reading celebration. During the celebration I walked around with Mrs. Kahler and it was my job to take pictures. I had a really good day! I got to touch a snake also, because one of the books was about African snakes and Mr. Bolen came to talk to the Students about snakes and I got to touch a snake. It was a very fun day. I got to bond with the students before my actual placement. I'm really excited.
My placement went great. The first thing the kids asked me was if I was going to play at recess with them. In the morning, Mrs. Joyner walked out of the room and left me in there to help the kids with a worksheet. That was a challenge because a lot would get out of there seat and not listen. The kids wanted me to play with them at recess so I played kickball with them. Once we got back in from recess the kids went to related arts but before we played with dominoes.
Monday was one of the funnest days at a school EVER. My class was 2ed grade with Mrs. Catoe. I had a heck of a lot of fun. I didn't want to leave at the end of the day because I'm already attached to the kids. One of the little boys made my day when he said I was pretty and he said he wanted to marry me. I can't wait to go back!
When I arrived to my placement on Monday I was ready to meet the kids. When I went to the office to sign in, I was told that Mrs.Sowell's daughter woke up that morning with a fever of 103.3 so she wouldn't be coming to school. I automatically knew that my day would be a long one. When I finally got to the classroom the kids weren't there yet, when they arrived they were wideopen. The kids wanted to know who was I and what was I doing there. The sub was someone I knew she usually had control of the classroom, but not this one. She yelled and took recess but they didn't care. They were noisey and kept getting out of their seats. Hopefully when I go back they'll be well behaved when Mrs. Sowell gets back
Well first of all I went to my classroom and helped students read. Then we read a story about a duck that became president. After lunch we did some math and social studies. Then before the children went to related arts the class did bubble sheets for the two main people running for president. After that some children had to make up a spelling test from the past Friday that they missed.
On Monday, I was in Mrs. C Hayes's second grade class at Midway Elementary. Before the day even began I was so nervous. When I got to the school, I went to the front office and signed in. When I got to the classroom I found out that I would be on the morning news show. So I went to the library, and spoke to the whole school. I went back to the class, and i met all the students. I helped Mrs. Hayes grade papers, and cut out flash cards for a game. After the first class we went to art. This girl Meagan made me a flower and a tree. On one of the pieces she had wrote "we love you." After art we went to the lunch room. This little kid named Robert sat with me, and talked about everything he could think of. He asked me if I would play with him at recess, and said that we could be best friends. After that he followed me around every where. At recess I played with them on the swings, and watched them slide. We then went back to class, and they got everything packed up to go home. Before they left the class they all ran over to me and gave me a hug. I really enjoyed my placement, and I can't wait to go back tomorrow.
My day started off with an awards program. Then I meet up with Mrs. Sarah and Mrs. Gandy's kindergarten class. Mrs. Sarah told me I could sit and observe her. She read them two books about scarecrows. After she read them books she let them do a craft. They each had a scarecrow they had to color them. They didn’t finish so when they come back they are going to finish next Monday. Then I didn’t have a class until 1:00 so I went around to everyone’s class and observed them. I went to lunch at 11:30 and I hung out with Mrs. Sarah until 1 and we talked. 2nd grade came in she read them one book and let them do a craft. They colored a basket and glue it together. They were very bad. But over all my day was fantastic! I can’t wait to go back.
My first day was great. There was a reading activity with the school that split everyone up into three groups. My book was "Heroes". The main character in the story played basketball, so my group played a full court basketball game for five minutes and then had a free throw competition. After we finished lunch, we all watched "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" until it was time for the students to go to the poison pins game. It was fun and I can't wait to go back!
