  1. Today was the twenty seventh day in my placement. It was also my last day at my placement before Christmas Break. When I got in there I talked with Mrs. McCaskill for a little while, helped her with some of the yearbook stuff. Then I put some books away. After that I handed out the invitations to the AR party. Then we went into the teacher’s room and ate some amazing food. Then we came back to the library and worked on some for yearbook stuff. Then it was time for me to leave. I told everyone Merry Christmas and bye then headed back to North Central.

  2. Today was December 19, 2012 and my 27th day at Midway Elementary. Today I knew was going to be a very relaxed day because it was only a half day and the last day before Christmas break. So when I got to Midway I signed in as usual and went to Mrs. Hayes’s class. Today I had brought the kids bags of candy and sugar cookies. I also bought Mrs. Hayes a mug with a plaque and a candle. The kids were all so thankful, and I probably got like five hugs from each one of them. After the kids ate their cookies and candy I went to take down ornaments off a Christmas tree. After I got the ornaments off and went back to the class we got the kids lined up and went to the cafeteria. The chorus was putting on a show for the whole school. They sang about 6 Christmas songs and then the kids went back to class. By the time we made it back to the classroom it was time for me to leave so I told the entire class bye, and gave Mrs. Hayes a hug, signed out and headed to North Central.

  3. Today was a half day and the last day before Christmas break. Words could not explain how excited I was. When I got to my placement I was nervous that the kids would show out all day because it was the last day before break. Surprisingly the kids actually behaved well today. When I first got there, Mrs. Joyner asked me to hang up the little astronaut things the kids did outside in the hall. So once I finished that, I went around and checked the kids' warm-up sheet. After each one finished their sheet, Mrs. Joyner put Charlie Brown on the television while i took the Christmas tree down for her. I had Halla and Autumn to help me take the ornaments off and then I took the tree down and just talked with Mrs. Joyner until it was time to go. I'm going to miss my kids over this long break. Can't wait to reunite with them afterwards.

  4. Today was a half day and the last day of school before Christmas Break. The day started off good as I showed Mrs. Kahler an old picture of herself as a cheerleader in high school. She laughed and went to print off a picture to show everyone in her class. I noticed Mr. Leininger's door was locked, so I went to Dr. Richardson and asked him if he could unlock the door. He said that since today was a short day and the classes were shorter, he would put my class in with Mrs. Kahler's class. As I went down there the students were making their way to class so I told them to go to Mrs. Kahler's room. She told me to get laptops from Mrs. Langley's room so I went to go get them. When I came back the class had just started. Mrs. Kahler told them to get a laptop to finish their essay so I sat down. She asked them if they wanted to read something and they said yeah. They read "A Redneck Christmas" and "A Gullah Christmas". I had to read the Gullah one and that was the hardest task I have ever been given. It was so hard to try and read that. The students really wanted me to read so I did it anyway. Some of Mrs. Kahler's students kept saying my last name as they never have saw me. About this time they called the eighth grade to go to the concert so Jill and I left. Everyone told me goodbye and I told them Merry Christmas and left.

  5. Today was a half day so we really didn’t do much. When I walked in, I noticed that the desk were back to their normal spot. The kids were drawing and coloring at their desk when I walked in. Mrs. Catoe told them that they were going to finish the movie from yesterday, so I sat down in the rocking chair and waited for Mrs. Catoe to tell me what she needed done. The movie only had about 15 minutes left so there wasn’t anything to do. When the movie was over Mrs. Catoe asked me if I would pass out some math practice papers for them to work on. I did and then walked around and help them if they needed help. Since today was a half day, there wasn’t much of anything else to do. When we were leaving, someone told us that there was food in the teacher’s lounge that we could help ourselves to if we wanted some. Veta, Brandon, Keri and I all went in there and got a couple things for the road. I hate that it is going to be two weeks before I see them again, but hopefully it will go by fast.

  6. Today was pretty quiet because a lot of the kids didn't come to school since it was a half day and the flu finally caught up to their class. The day didn't start of normally with popcorn words to start the break and they also didn't do journal writing this morning. The morning show still came on as normal though. After the morning show Mrs. Farnum read some Junie B. Jones to them, and she still does all the voices for all the different characters the same way she use to when I was in her class. After a little while of reading the kids had a special guest come, it was one of the students in my class' grandmother who'd come to read to them. We went over to the other first grade classroom and listened to her read the book Auntie Claus. She talked to them and asked questions about the book and I later learned she use to be librarian. After the story we went back to Mrs. Farnum's room and she finished up the rest of the Junie B. chapter until it was PE. They were in there all of literally one minute before it was lunch time and they were headed to the cafeteria. Then it was time for me to tell them bye, it was sad so I can't imagine how hard its going to be when it really is time to leave for good.

  7. Today I was running late and by the time I got to the classroom all the students were already in there. Things were running on a different schedule today because it’s a half day and you could tell it was time for the Christmas break because they were really wild and ready to leave. Once class started I brought out Christmas ornaments for them and for the first twenty minutes of class they all worked on making on ornaments to take home. After they finished that up we started watching a movie until the Christmas concert started. The Christmas concert started at 8:30 and by the time we all got back to the classroom it was time for me to leave. When Mrs. Ingram told the kids I had to leave they all said “No!” and tried to block the door so I couldn’t leave. This meant a lot to me because I found out that the kids liked me way more than I thought they did. Come second semester I am going to miss being at the middle school with them!

  8. Today when I woke up I was not feeling too well. I didn’t know if I had the flu or not so I decided to stay home. My students were supposed to have their Christmas party today and pass out candy to each other. I can’t wait until after the break so I can see them.
