Learning Styles Continued
Today in Teacher Cadet we started the day as we normally would with SSR followed by pot notes. After writing pot notes, we continued with learning styles, since we didn't get a chance to do so Friday. The two learning styles that we talked about today were Global and Analytical Learning Styles. We also learned the difference between Global and Analytical learning styles. A global learner looks for the big picture, may be field dependent, may be impulsive, may be right-brain dominant, and also begins with the end in mind. On the other hand analytical learners looks for detail, may be field independent, may be reflective, may be left- brain dominant and start at the beginning. (I am an analytical learner). After going over global and analytical learning styles and their importance, we discussed Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. While going over Maslows Hierarchy of Needs, Mrs. Sutusky asked everyone go up to the board and write good and bad things that we remembered about our previous classrooms. We had to answer the following questions: how was the physical environment of the classroom, what was the teachers attitude, and what role did the teacher play in building students relationships. We then discussed how the classroom differences affected student learning. We came to conclusion that if the teacher has a classroom with plain walls, doesn't let students work in groups and doesn't show interest in his/her students then that would put the child in a negative learning environment. We also discussed Maslow's pyramid and how it effects learning in the classroom. Afterwards, Mrs. Sutusky went over all of the materials that we needed to study for our test tomorrow and printed our study guide. Finally after going over Global and Analytical learning styles, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and things that we needed to know for our test we got a chance to work on our Big Books.

First, thanks Sutusky for the bad picture of me.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I didn't realize how much us students agree on about the good and bad of the classrooms we have been in over the years.
I enjoyed this lesson and learned many new things. Everyday I learn something new about me and today I found out I was an analytical learner and I am left brain dominant.
ReplyDeleteI think yesterdays class was very fun. I learned a lot about learning styles and that I am analytical learner.
