I hope you all enjoyed your placement.

  1. Today was my last day in my placement. When I woke up this morning, I knew that it was going to be a “tear jerker” kind of day. I wasn’t ready for the last day with my kids. As soon as I pulled up I noticed that there were a lot of cars in the parking lot, I had forgot that it was Friday and we had Live TV from two weeks ago. When I walked into class the kids were working on a “Student of the Week” booklet, but it wasn’t for a student, it was for me. They had to write three sentences or tips on what they think a good teacher is and color a picture at the bottom. When it was time for Live TV, the kids that had met their reading goal were called down to the library and the rest of the students sat in the class until it was time to watch it. Mrs. Catoe told the parents that were in our class that our TV quit working before Christmas break, so they could go next door to Mrs. Joyner’s class or to another class of their choice. Mrs. Catoe and I took our kids next door to Mrs. Joyner and Brandon’s class so we could watch it also. When Live TV was over we went into the hall for the AR Parade and then went back into the classroom once all of the kids were back in class; once everyone was settled back in their seat, the continued to work on my booklet. When timer went off, Mrs. Catoe told the kids that it was time for Morning Meeting and the needed to go back to the carpet. After Morning Meeting, Mrs. Catoe said that they were going to throw me a “farewell party” with some homemade peanut butter cookies and ice cold Coca-Cola. After the “party”, Mrs. Catoe started reading A Snowman’s Story, but I left before it was finished. I am extremely sad about not getting to see them every day. I promised them that I would come back and see them often. When I was walking out of the door, they called out, “Bye Miss Amanda, I love you!” and it was another “tear jerker” moment.

  2. Day 29
Sadly today was the last day in my placement. It was very sad, but im very happy to have had the chance to join Mrs. Kahler’s class and learn all that I did. Today we started out by re-reading “Thank You M’am” since it has been so long because of Christmas break. While Mrs. Kahler read it aloud I went through and handed out all the papers that I graded so they can see their mistakes and fix it on their final draft Monday. After we read “Thank You M’am” I got up in front of everyone and read aloud my example of a good paragraph about Mr. Jones and explained to them the whole point of this was to prove your character trait you chose for Mrs. Jones. After I got up there and did that we had a discussion and it seemed to me that the students understood what they were supposed to do. I think the first time they rushed through it, because of Christmas break and they were so excited to get home. I feel like we got a lot accomplished today and I’m very excited. I hope there is some way I can read all of their final drafts since I won’t be with them anymore. At the end of class they all told me thank you for being there and told me things they enjoyed me doing, like helping with their work. I have really enjoyed being there and I will miss them so much.

  3. Today is January 4, 2013 and my 29th and final day at Midway Elementary. When I got to Midway I signed in as I normally do and went to Mrs. Hayes’s classroom. When I got to the classroom I had to go to the library to get a laptop cart; Collin was my helper today. When we got to the library we got the cart and went to head back to class. When we pulled the cart away from the wall Collin found a cellphone and turned it in to the librarian. We then made it back to class and I took the breakfast and lunch count. After the kids ate and watched the news show I took some pictures of them. Mrs. Hayes asked me to cut out some letters for the bulletin board so I went to the teacher’s lounge and finished everything she needed done. Mrs. Hayes then took a group picture of me with all the students. Then she took one of them giving me a hug. After pictures were taken I got to read the kids a story. They all gathered around me and I read “The True Story of The 3 Little Pigs!” Once I finished reading all the kids were answering questions about the story and would be taking an AR test on the story that day. Shortly after it was already time to go so I hugged Mrs. Hayes and the kids bye and headed to North Central.

  4. Day 29
Today was very sad. It was the last day that I will ever get to teacher cadet, which made me want to never leave. I had a rough start this morning; I was running late and got stuck behind a couple of buses. But I finally got to Mount Pisgah and then I realized it was Friday instead of Tuesday. So that means that they are having the Live TV and the AR parade. Therefore I had to park in the middle of nowhere, but it is okay id do anything for my kids. When I got into the library we were setting up for the Live TV and Mr. Bosco was getting the kids ready out of the classrooms to go on. After all the kids was ready Mr. Branham did the show then me and Mrs. McCaskill talked and put books up and worked on tutoring. Then we worked on yearbook and talked some more. By the time we knew it, it was time to go. I was so sad, I never wanted to leave. We said our goodbyes and she told me to come by whenever and see her. I am so thankful that I got to have this wonderful experience and got to share it with such and amazing teacher and women. It opened new doors for me and it was amazing.

  5. Today was the last day of Teacher Cadet placements and it was the saddest thing ever. I took them and Mrs. Farnum a little gift this morning but I hadn't told them yet that today was my last day. They wrote in their journals as normal but they're now required to write a little more than a few sentences so they now get approved. We watched the morning show as usual too and did popcorn words which had been studied last night. Everyone had calmed down back to normal from yesterday. Next it was time for accelerated math which they went through quickly today, quicker than usual and then worked on reading. They have to do 2 AR tests now instead of one. I helped with problems but they were pretty self-sufficient with the reading except for certain words. After it was time for art class, and I walked down with them to tell them bye. I'll try to still go visit them every once in a while through the rest of the school year. It was an amazing experience though as sad as it was to leave but I'm glad I had it.

  6. Today was my last day in my placement. To whom this may concern and or displease i didnt really tell my kids i was going. I told my teacher at the end of class after my students left and told her goodbye and that i would be around but i just didnt think i could handle telling my kids the same. Yes it may be rude in some way but i just couldnt handle all the goodbyes. One it would make me feel old and outdated but two even though i thought my kids werent the best kids in the world i still had a connection with them. These were my teacher cadet students so it would have been a mush moment and i just am not about that mush moment im sorry. Im sure ill see them as they get older and grow up, but they still my little sixth grade class no matter how old they are.

  7. Today was our last day in our placement and I was a little sad. I am going to miss going to the elementary school every day but the kids were so disrespectful and never listen to anyone so I am somewhat glad. I arrived today and I was surprised to see that the school was actually having live television and the AR parade today since we just came back from the holidays. Surprisingly most of my kids were in the parade today and made it passed their goal. I think I only had five kids left out of the 23 I have, so that made me so proud. The second grade came in and sat with us while watching the show on our T.V. While the show was on, I tallied up how many ram bucks each student had for Mrs. Joyner. Each student had to have 50 ram bucks to go to their next party and most of the kids had that many, I believe there was only three without 50 but they were really close. After finishing that and all the students were back in class they finished their warm up and I checked it and after that Mrs. Joyner separated them into two groups one for me and one for her. My group behaved very well except Landon M. and Carl. They would never pay attention and listen to the story so I finally jumped on them about it and told them what they had to do. I was about to make them spend time at recess, after finishing the story it was time for me to leave and I gave ram bucks to my kids. The kids spent like five minutes telling me bye and how they were going to miss me, it was sweet. It was hard to believe that today was our last day, I had a great time.
